Introduction North Carolina is ranked 10th among the 50 states of United States. North Carolina is located in the Southeastern United States. North Carolina was admitted to the U.S union in 1789 as the 21st state. The constitution of North Carolina gives three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. The executive council consists of governor of the state consists of the Governor, lieutenant governor and secretary of state, attorney general, commissioner of agriculture and other officials. The executive council of the state with the governor has the authority and responsibility over the administration over the state affairs. The executive with the governor are elected for two year term. The legislative branch consists of 120-members of House of Representatives and 50 senators. The Senators elect their own president and representatives elect their own speaker. The third branch is the judicial authority which includes North Carolina Supreme Court which is the highest court in the state and other courts like civil court and administrative offices and district courts having limited judicial authority.
